The Employees State Insurance Corporation (ESIC) is going in for an upgrade under which health records will be available online, a 24x7 toll-free helpline in regional languages and a daily OPD for senior citizens/differently-abled patients.
The ESIC scheme will also be started in the States where these benefits are not available, as per the The “ESIC-2.0” Health Reforms Initiatives, was unveiled at the inaugural session of 46th Indian Labour Conference here on Monday by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
“At present ESIC Scheme is being implemented in industrial/commercial clusters. Now the target is to cover whole of the 393 districts, where these clusters are located,” read a Labour Ministry statement, adding that all construction workers will be covered under the scheme now.
The Prime Minister also announced ‘Operation Indradhanush’ under the Swachch Bharat campaign, under which all ESIC hospitals will have bed sheets in different colours based on the on VIBGYOR pattern, so that these are changed every day.
