The government has extended demand incentives worth ₹127.77 crore for purchase of over 1.11 lakh electric and hybrid vehicles under the FAME-India scheme according to the Minister of State for Heavy Industries and Public Enterprises Babul Supriyo, in a written reply to the Lok Sabha.
The Faster Adoption and Manufacturing of (hybrid &) Electric vehicles in India scheme is proposed to be implemented over a period of 6 years, till 2020, wherein it is intended to support the hybrid/electric vehicles market development and its manufacturing ecosystem to achieve self-sustenance at the end of the stipulated period.
