The Gorkha Janmukti Morcha (GJM) on Saturday praised the Mamata Banerjee Government for its performance over the last one year. According to Mr Harkabahadur Chhetri, central committee member of GJM, the organisation was willing to give more time to her government to resolve the Darjeeling crisis. “We appreciate that the state government is trying to resolve the Darjeeling crisis. It's a matter of time. We will give more time,” Mr Chhetri said following a meeting with the chief minister, Ms Mamata Banerjee, at Writers' Buildings. According to him, unlike the previous government, Ms Banerjee has visited Darjeeling a number of times and met GJM leaders. “While we were only listeners in the Left Front regime, the new government allowed us to speak and express our problems,” Mr Chhetri pointed out. He also demanded additional funds for the development of hill region.
