Taking strict action against non-performing and defaulting officials, the government has decided to prematurely retire 33 officers from the Revenue Service. “There is a general perception that no action is taken against the defaulting tax officials for their non-performance as well as in case of harassing the tax assesses among others,” said a Finance Ministry release on Thursday, adding that the government has taken various measures for good governance.
“Since taking over two years ago, the government has taken strict action against such revenue officers/officials in order to fix their accountability,” it added.
Further, 72 officers, including six Group ‘A’ officers have been dismissed in other departmental and disciplinary actions in the last two years.
