A report of the Consortium of IITs on Ganga River Basin Management Plan 2015 has identified eight important areas including ecological restoration and sustainable agriculture for carrying out restorative works.
In his written reply in Lok Sabha today, Minister of State for Water Resources Sanwar Lal Jat said the report submitted on January 31 this year has recommended for “wholesomeness of National River Ganga“.
“Eight important areas have been identified for carrying out restorative actions in mission mode namely Aviral Dhara, Nirmal Dhara, Ecological Restoration, Sustainable Agriculture, Geological Safeguarding, Basin Protection against Disasters, River Hazard Management and Environmental Knowledge Building and Sensitisation,” he said.
The government is currently examining the recommendations in the GRBMP-2015 including uninterrupted flow of river Ganga, he added.
