The Government has nearly concluded stage one of the process of the '100 smart cities' mission, Madhusudan Prasad, Secretary for Ministry of Urban Development, said.
"The list of top 100 cities, which will compete for the Bloomberg city wide challenge, will be announced on August 13 or 14," he said.
Top 20 cities which emerge from the challenge will secure funding based on their proposals.
Prasad was speaking at a conference by PHD chamber on Tuesday.
The Centre will allocate Rs 100 crore for each selected city, an amount which has to be matched by the State.
