The government has launched an updated version of Energy Conservation Building Code on Monday that provides for current as well as futuristic advancements in building technology to further reduce building energy consumption and promote low-carbon growth.
Speaking at the launch of Energy Conservation Building Code 2017, Minister of State (Independent Charge), Coal, Power, Renewable Energy and Mines, Piyush Goyal, said, “I have recommended that all new buildings and offices in the future be SuperECBC and Net Zero Energy Buildings.”
The government expects that energy consumption will be reduced by 50 per cent by 2030, with the launch of the new code.
