The Tamil Nadu Chief Minister, Ms J. Jayalalithaa, today asserted her Government would not sacrifice the State’s rights at any point and vowed to create a ‘golden era’ in the State.
“We will not sacrifice Tamil Nadu’s rights at any point or any stage. We will stand united; work hard (and) not sacrifice Tamil Nadu’s rights at any point or any stage,” she said in her new year greetings to the people.
Her remarks comes against the backdrop of the resurfacing of the controversy over Kerala’s move for building a new dam across Mullaperiyar which Tamil Nadu is opposing tooth and nail.
Ms Jayalalithaa, whose AIADMK stormed to power in the April 2011 elections with a landslide victory over archrival DMK, said her government was working with the aim of making Tamil Nadu a pioneer in all the sectors in a golden era.
The Government “under your sister is effectively doing this,” she said.
