The Central Bureau of Investigation has taken Kadapa MP, Mr Y.S. Jaganmohan Reddy, into its custody this morning for questioning him in the disproportionate assets case.
He was lodged in the Chanchalguda jail in the city.
Son of late Chief Minister, Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy, and now MP and President of YSR Congress Party, Mr Jagan is faced with several charges in the disproportionate assets case.
The country’s apex investigation agency had arrested him on May 27.
While the CBI has thus far filed three charge-sheets and has been probing various financial transactions, the Enforcement Directorate has also stepped into to probe money laundering and violation of foreign exchange norms.
Fund flow into Mr Jagan’s firms is being tracked.
The Andhra Pradesh High Court had on Saturday granted five-days custody of Mr Jagan to the CBI to question him in the case.
It had also rejected a quash petition filed by him seeking bail to campaign for the ongoing by-elections to 18 Assembly and one Parliamentary seat later this month.
A Special Court of CBI had also rejected a bail petition on Friday.
