The Kiran Kumar Reddy Government defeated the no confidence motion of Telugu Desam with a margin of 160-122 after a marathon 16-hour debate that ended at 1.30 am on Tuesday.

The no confidence motion was moved by the Telugu Desam Party Chief, Mr N. Chandrababu Naidu, on the first day of the brief five-day winter session of the Legislative Assembly.

The ruling Congress Government in Andhra Pradesh is likely to pay a heavy price with 16 MLAs defying its whip and voting in favour of no trust vote. They may attract disqualification proceedings.

Mr N. Kiran Kumar Reddy defended the Government focus on the farm sector and said that his Government would do everything possible to support the farm sector.
