More grain for poorest districts in 4 States

The Ministry of Consumer Affairs, Food and Public Distribution has allocated 1,24,102 tonnes of food grain to the poorest districts of four States at BPL rate.

The entire quantity has to be consumed before March 2013, an official release said on Thursday.

Odisha has been allocated 84,746 tonnes of rice at BPL rate, while Madhya Pradesh has been allocated 35,464 tonnes (7,092 tonnes of rice and 28,372 tonnes of wheat) at BPL rates for the newly identified poorest districts of Alirajpur, Burhanpur and Dindori.

Kerala has been allocated 1,232 tonnes of food grain. Of this, 472 tonnes rice has been allocated at Antyodaya Anna Yojana rate, while 152 tonnes of wheat and 608 tonnes of rice at BPL rate for distribution in Palakkad and Wayanad.

The poorest district of Medak in Andhra Pradesh has been allocated 2,660 tonnes of rice at AAY rate.
