The Tamil Nadu Government on Thursday announced filling up of over 800 medical vacancies in Government-run hospitals across the State as it hiked the consolidated pay of nurses employed in primary health centres.
The Chief Minister, Ms J Jayalalithaa, has directed that 835 vacancies created due to staff retirement, enhancement of services and upgrade of hospitals be filled and this will be done soon, a State government release here said.
Further, the Government announced a special allowance of Rs 500 to nurses appointed for natal servcies in these centres in the State.
The nurses at present took home consolidated pay of Rs 4,000, Rs 4,500 and Rs 5,500 a month in the first, second and third years respectively, it added.
