The board of National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development (Nabard) has formally announced restructuring of district offices.
Business Line had first reported the board’s decision to this effect on April 20.
The board has directed opening of a few new residence-cum-offices in far-flung areas and relocation of a few such existing offices.
Accordingly, 17 new district offices are being opened during the current year in 10 states, Mr Amlorpavanathan, Chief General Manager, Kerala, said here.
Identification criteria
These districts are identified on the basis of their backwardness and stage of development as per criteria of the Government of India.
The interests of the relocated districts will be safeguarded by other modes than operating an exclusive office at the district level.
Predominantly urban and development-oriented districts, where the infrastucture index is relatively high and development is on an accelerated pace, will be brought under the jurisdiction of existing Assistant General Manager in the adjoining district.
Further, districts which are within 100 km of the State Capital, predominantly urban and well-connected, will be monitored from the respective regional office.
None of the activities or support in the districts will be stopped or left out, Mr Amalorpavanathan said.
Nabard will participating in the meetings and deliver the coordination responsibilities as hitherto.
In Kerala, Ernakulam and Kollam districts would be supported and monitored by the Nabard regional office Thiruvananthapuram.
Kozhikode district will be looked after by District Development Manager, Malappuram, and Pathanamthitta by Assistant General Manager, Kottayam.
Full-fledged district offices of Nabard are functional at both the places, the Chief General Manager-Kerala, added.
