Nalco Foundation, the CSR arm of National Aluminium Company Ltd, will sponsor an Industrial Training Institute (ITI) at Marichamal in tribal-dominated Damanjodi in Odisha’s Koraput district.
The institute will be set up at an estimated cost of Rs 4.08 crore.
Nalco Foundation Chairman, Mr B.L. Bagra, handed over an advance cheque of Rs 2 crore for initial mobilisation to the Odisha Chief Secretary, Mr B.K. Patnaik, company sources said today.
The ITI would impart technical education to the rural youth to enhance their employability, the sources said, adding that the intervention is being considered a significant step in mainstreaming tribal youth by equipping them with vocational skills.
The Directorate of Technical Education and Training, Odisha has approved the setting up of the institute.
The land required for the purpose would be provided by the district administration, while Nalco Foundation has agreed to bear the infrastructure cost.
