The 61st plenary of the North Eastern Council (NEC), a regional planning body under the Ministry of Development of the North Eastern Region, will be held tomorrow in Delhi.
It will be attended by the Governors and Chief Ministers of all the North Eastern states and Sikkim, who are members of the council.
According to official sources here, the meeting will discuss issues pertaining to development of transport and communication, telecommunication, civil aviation, railways and other key sectors which are crucial to the economic progress of the region.
Special presentations will be made on development of the region by the Ministry of Railways, Road Transport and Highways and Civil Aviation in the plenary, the sources said.
The NEC, which looks after the need of both physical and social infrastructure in the region, has released Rs 693 crore out of the total budget allocation of Rs 700 crore during the last financial year (2011-12), accounting for over 99 per cent release to the constituent states.
