Workers of Neyveli Lignite Corporation would donate one day’s salary, amounting to Rs two crore, towards the Chief Minister’s Thane Cyclone Relief fund.

The company Chairman-cum-Managing Director, Mr A.R. Ansari, said the amount collected from 17,801 workers and 4,240 engineers would soon be handed over to the Chief Minister, Ms J. Jayalalithaa.

He said NLC is feeding over 1,200 MW of power per hour uninterruptedly to the Tamil Nadu grid.

Meanwhile, Mr V. Thiyagarajan, Joint Secretary, NLC Engineers’ Federation, said the Rs two crore contribution was very meagre and that the board of directors should convene a meeting and pass a resolution to contribute at least Rs 100 crore towards relief work.
