The Karnataka Government has constituted a high-level committee to enquire about the reported encroachment of Wakf properties across the state.
The Karnataka State Minorities Commission, following complaints of encroachment of Wakf properties from some organisations, had enquired about the allegations and had submitted a report as per Section 10 of the Karnataka State Minorities Commission Act 1994.
The high-level committee comprises Additional Chief Secretary and Development Commissioner (Chairman) and Secretary of Revenue Department, Secretary of Labour Department, Secretary of Law Department and Secretary of Minorities’ Welfare Department.
The committee has been given four months to conduct the enquiry and submit the report.
