The Planning Commission has given its nod for Kerala’s annual Plan for Rs 14,010 crore.
According to State Government sources, this was finalised after talks between a high-level team led by the Chief Minister, Mr Oommen Chandy, and the Deputy Chairman of the Planning Commission, Mr Montek Singh Ahluwalia.
The latest annual Plan accords priority to agriculture, and is Rs 2,000 crore more in size than the previous one, the sources said.
Significantly, the Planning Commission had approved the Plan size as proposed by the State Government in its entirety.
In the previous year, the State Government had proposed a Plan with an outlay of Rs 11,030 crore but the Planning Commission had granted Rs 12,010 crore.
Parallely, the State Finance Minister, Mr K. M. Mani, who is also in New Delhi, is leading discussions aimed at getting additional allocations and grants from various other sources.
The State Government is seeking additional grants of Rs 600 crore. In the previous year, it managed to get Rs 326 crore, the sources said.
