After the arrival of the south-west monsoon, many places in Punjab and Haryana were lashed by rains for the third day today.
Chandigarh received 44 mm rainfall until early this morning, the local MeT office said.
Places in Haryana, which received rainfall included Ambala, which received 6.3 mm each, Hisar 4.3 mm, Gurgaon 1 mm, Narnaul 18 mm, Rohtak 5.8 mm, Bhiwani 30 mm, Panchkula 30 mm, Yamunanagar 15 mm, Karnal 33 mm and Panipat 45 mm.
In Punjab, rains lashed Ludhiana (19.4 mm), Jalandhar (35 mm), Patiala (4.4 mm), Phagwara (13 mm), Mukerian (21.5 mm), Ropar (9 mm), Mohali (39 mm) and Balachaur (10 mm).
South-west monsoon, which entered parts of Punjab and Haryana including Chandigarh on June 25, had yesterday covered the remaining parts of the two states as well. The monsoon arrived a few days ahead of schedule in the region.
The MeT has forecast more rains during the next two days in the region.
In the two states, the maximum temperatures have dropped sharply between 2-10 degrees Celsius below normal after the rains.
