A Division Bench of the Calcutta High Court on Thursday extended the stay order on the distribution of land at Singur till the disposal of the appeal petition by Tata Motors .
The Division Bench of Mr Justice Pinaki Chandra Ghose and Mr Justice Mrinal Kanti Chaudhuri observed that the interim order passed by Mr Justice I. P. Mukerji staying the distribution of land “will continue till disposal of the case”.
Tata Motors' appeal petition will be heard Tuesday, November 8, onwards.
The Division Bench has also directed the West Bengal Government to file its objections on the new documents presented by the auto major in its appeal petition.
Meanwhile, confusion arose over the validity of the stay order on the 400-odd acres of land earmarked to be distributed to chosen Nano project vendors.
The State Government counsel, Mr Kalyan Bandopadhyay, argued that the Court's stay order is only restricted to the 600-odd acres leased out directly to the auto-major.
Mr S. K. Kapoor, appearing on behalf of one of vendors, argued that a Single Bench of Mr Justice Mukerji had stayed any distribution of land belonging to the vendors till November 8.
The Division Bench, however, observed that “no order will be passed” until the matter came up for hearing before the Bench.
