Parthasarathi Shome, adviser to Finance Minister P Chidambaram, on Monday said the newly set up Tax Administration Reform Commission would file its first report in May.
According to him, the Commission, set up as an advisory body to the Finance Ministry, has been dealing with administrative issues such as treating taxpayers as customers; training of the collectors; role of information technology and dispute resolution.
“The first report of TARC will be submitted sometime in May,” Shome said at a seminar on tax policies organised by Kolkata-based Bharat Chamber of Commerce.
Among various tax administrative issues, TARC would also ensure “recurrent training of make the tax collectors fair and efficient”, he added.
