A determined Opposition continued to block the functioning of Andhra Pradesh Assembly for the fourth day today even as a beleaguered Government remained clueless on how to come out of the current imbroglio.
Supported by the two Left parties, the main Opposition Telugu Desam Party, did not let the House function, demanding that the Chief Minister immediately sack the six “tainted” ministers who might face inquiry by the CBI in the case related to amassing of illegal wealth by Kadapa MP, Mr Y.S. Jaganmohan Reddy.
The House was adjourned first for 15 minutes within seven minutes after the day’s proceedings began, but order did not restore when it resumed after an hour.
Amid the din caused by the Opposition members, the budgetary demands for grants related to major irrigation and roads and buildings departments were moved by Minister, Mr Dharmana Prasada Rao, who incidentally was on the firing line of the Opposition.
Speaker, Mr Nadendla Manohar, then adjourned the proceedings for half-an-hour the second time.
With the Chief Minister engaged in campaigning for the party candidates for the by-elections in seven constituencies, the Ministers were left to defend themselves.
But the ministers in question appeared defenceless in the House what with the Opposition continuing its sustained onslaught.
