The Andhra Pradesh Legislative Assembly today witnessed noisy scenes with the opposition Telugu Desam members stalling the proceedings wanting the Speaker to take note of the no-confidence motion representation it earlier made.

However, the House could barely transact any business save a brief period when members of the House paid homage to sitting MLA, N. Rajeshwara Reddy. It was later adjourned for the day.

The main opposition, the TDP, issued a notice of no confidence motion against the Congress Government. Mr Gali Muddukrishnama Naidu, along with other members submitted its request for no-confidence motion. The no-confidence motion has to be considered first and supported by at least 30 members before it is taken up for consideration.

With the opposition Telugu Desam members determined to bring in a no-confidence motion against the Kiran Kumar Reddy Government, before taking up any other business, the Assembly was witness to hectic activity. However, when the House assembled in the morning, the proceedings were stalled due to slogan shouting by members of various political parties seeking to draw the attention of the Speaker, Mr Nadendla Manohar.

While the TDP members insisted that the Speaker announce in the House that they had moved the no-confidence motion and stalled the proceedings, other members wanted the condolence proceedings to go ahead. But the Speaker was forced to adjourn the House for ten minutes. However, when the House reassembled after about an hour, the situation was no different with the TDP members demanding the Speaker to record their motion.

Amidst slogan shouting, the Chief Minister, Mr Kiran Kumar Reddy, moved a condolence motion and recalled the yeoman service Rajeshwar Reddy made as a public representative.

Meanwhile, there was some effort to make a novel protest against the Government inaction to the farm sector concerns. After paying tributes at the NTR Ghat, the TDP leader, Mr N.Chandrababu Naidu, sought to draw attention by walking to the House.

The TRS members too are keen that the House takes up the issue of separate statehood before transacting any other business.
