The Tamil Nadu Government today announced setting up of 64 integrated complexes at a cost of about Rs 12 crore to accommodate senior citizens and children.

The Chief Minister, Ms J. Jayalalithaa, has directed in-principle the setting up of such complexes in 32 districts in 2011-12, a government release here said.

Sixty-four integrated complexes to accommodate senior citizens without any social support, children affected with HIV and facing other social boycott besides those from displaced families would be created and run with the help of NGOs and large corporate companies, it said.

Two circuits will be covered in each district, setting up 64 complexes and these would include schools, medical facilities and library among others, it said, adding, Ms Jayalalithaa had sanctioned Rs 12.18 crore for this purpose.

This effort was part of the Jayalalithaa government’s key objective of ensuring a secure and dignified living conditions for the elderly, the release added.
