The Telangana Rashtra Samithi leader, Mr K.T.Rama Rao, today hinted that he may move a private member bill for separate Statehood of Telangana.

Speaking to presspersons at the Assembly media point after the State Governor, Mr E.S.L. Narasimhan's budget session speech, Mr Rao said that people were vexed with the umpteen number of promises they have been made assuring them of taking up the issue of separate Statehood. The budget session speech too has no mention of this today.

“Therefore, we will consider and take up a private member bill in the House. This will have good prospects for consideration. Normally, private member bills are moved on Friday's,” he said.

Reacting to the speech, he said at several occasions in Hyderabad and Delhi, assurances were made to move the process of creation of separate state of Telangana. But nothing has been done.

Mixed reaction

Reactions to the Budget speech were mixed. A section of the Telugu Desam Party members, in support of separate statehood showed posters demanding a bill for separate State.

Other section felt that the Government had no moral right to govern when the entire farm community is faced with hardship due to lack of remunerative prices and inadequate power to manage farms.

Left party leaders too expressed their concern about the lack of concern of the Government for the farm sector and also various financial irregularities in the State leading to loss to the exchequer.
