The Andhra Pradesh Legislative Assembly, which is slated to meet for a brief five-day winter session from Thursday, is likely to be stormy with opposition parties keen to move a no-trust motion against the Kiran Kumar Reddy Government and another section of legislators keen to press for separate Statehood demand.
The Assembly has been convened after the Budget session held nearly eight months ago. The only time it met was to elect the Assembly Speaker, Mr Nadendla Manohar, in June. The monsoon session was not convened as the situation was not conducive to hold the session due to resignation submitted by representatives of some political parties.
While representatives of some political parties, Telangana Rashtra Samithi, and a section of Telugu Desam Party members are insisting that they would take up the issue of moving a bill in the House for the creation of a separate State, opposition parties, mainly the TDP, are keen to move a no-confidence motion against the Kiran Kumar Reddy Government.
Spotting the difficulty of the Government, the Opposition is keen to have a longer duration of the winter session and wants to move the no-trust motion, which it wants to table on the first day itself.
