Former Karnataka Chief Minister, Mr B S Yeddyurappa, who surrendered at the Lokayukta Court on Saturday afternoon and sent to Parappanna Agrahara jail, has been shifted to a Government hospital early this morning after he vomited and complained of chest pain.

According to doctors at the Jayadeva Hospital, he is at present undergoing treatment in the intensive care unit. A team of doctors led by Jayadeva Institute of Cardiology Director, Dr C. N. Manjunath, is attending to Mr Yeddyurappa.

The reason given for his sudden hospitalisation is high blood pressure and vomitting a couple of times last night, which prompted the jail authorities to rush him to the hospital. At present, his condition is stated to be stable.

Karnataka Chief Minister, Mr D.V. Sadananda Gowda, who called on Mr Yeddyurappa this morning, told reporters that Mr Yeddyurappa is not keeping well and has been advised rest.

After the Chief Minister's visit, the Home Minister, Mr R. Ashoka, Minister for Water Resources, Mr Basavaraj Bommai, Excise Minister, Mr M. P. Renukacharaya, Law Minister, Mr S. Suresh Kumar, and Energy Minister, Mr Shobha Karandlaje, visited the senior BJP leader.

The Lokayukta special court on Saturday had rejected Mr Yeddyurappa's bail application and issued an arrest warrant. The former Chief Minister faces allegations of de-notifying Government land in and around Bangalore in return for monetary gains.

Mr Yeddyurappa has been remanded to judicial custody till October 22.
