A contingent of more than 50 members belonging to the Madurai District Tiny and Small Scale Industries Association led by its President V.S. Manimaran held a dharna at Jantar Mantar in New Delhi.
The protest was held to highlight the precarious power situation in Tamil Nadu and its debilitating impact and demand the attention by the Union Government.
They submitted a memorandum to Prime Minister Manmohan Singh seeking measures to ameliorate the State from the crisis.
The memorandum also demanded the allocation of the entire power generated from Unit I of Koodankulam Nuclear Power Project, speedy clearance of ongoing thermal power projects in the State, allocation of the entire quantum of power returned by Delhi Government, grid capacity augmentation for transmission of power from other regions, full quantum of power from Central pool and so on.
