The Finance Minister, Mr Pranab Mukherjee, told the Lok Sabha that he would look into the aspect of increase in the number of farmers availing agricultural credit not being commensurate with the quantum of agricultural credit growth in the country.
“Maybe, some of the facilities are going only to large farmers. We will look into this,’’ Mr Mukherjee said in the Lower House during question hour.
He also assured the Lower House that his standing instruction to public sector banks to invite the local Member of Parliament (MP) for branch opening events would be fully complied with by such banks.
He was responding to a complaint from a MP that public sector banks do not invite the local MP for branch/ATM opening events.
