The Finance Minister, Mr Pranab Mukherjee, today asserted in the Lok Sabha that the Railway Minister has not resigned.
He, however, admitted that the Prime Minister, Dr Manmohan Singh, has received a communication from the Leader of Trinamool Congress (TMC), Ms Mamata Banerjee.
Trinamool Congress is a constituent of UPA-II and it is not unusual, Mr Pranab said, adding that those who ran coalition Governments for six years know very well how many times they had to deal with coalition partners and in what manner.
“These gentlemen who are opposing me know it better than anybody else,’’ Mr Mukherjee said directing his hand towards the BJP leaders at the Opposition benches.
The Finance Minister said that the letter of TMC leader is under the active consideration of the Prime Minister. “As and when a decision is taken, the House will be informed.’’
