Randstad tweaks temp staffing model to hike employee productivity

To increase productivity and employee engagement among temp staff, HR firm Randstad India has launched Inhouse Services in India.

Inhouse Services is an evolved model of temp staffing where entire teams of temp staff operate out of a customer’s workplace under an account specialist. In this model, the service provider would work on projects or processes of the client through temp staff. It is different from an outsourced model where the provider is paid for each project.

“ Through the in-house business model, Randstad would work with its temp staff exclusively for each client, implement processes specific to client requirements, improve workforce flexibility, ensure higher level of temp staff productivity and retention,” said Mr Aditya Narayan Mishra, President — Staffing, and Director — Marketing, Randstad India.

Prevalent model

Routine temp staffing models available in the country now involve recruiting people, on-boarding them, managing their payroll while complying with rules and regulations, and offloading them when not required.

Mr Mishra says Randstad is able to deliver higher value to the customer by placing an account specialist who handles teams of people at the client’s facility.

Apart from recruitment and selection of the temp workforce, the specialist is proactively involved in the client’s work, tracking the performance of the temp team, training team members when necessary, and ensuring higher productivity. Temp teams, therefore, redesign the work processes to help customers gain business advantage.

“This will not only ensure higher involvement among temp staff but also lower costs of hiring them,” says Mr Mishra.

Currently, Randstad is the only temp staffing firm providing in-house services to companies in the manufacturing, logistics and the BPO sectors. Randstad India was known as Ma Foi Randstad till Ma Foi exited the firm last month.
