A record 64,000 plus passports were issued during September, 2011 by the Regional Passport Office, Hyderabad. This is a new record in the country. With this, the passport office has issued more than 1,19,000 passports in the last two months, according to a press release. The effort becomes significant, especially with the ongoing bandh in the Telangana region. Also, the passport office has been under criticism for several months on delays in issue of passports and related problems. The employees received kudos from both the Passport Officer, Dr Srikar Reddy and the National President of their all Indian association, Mr Vasudev, for doing double shifts to clear the pendency.
