To improve the ease of doing business in Karnataka, the United Kingdom has offered its expertise to the State and released an exclusive report on ‘Ease of Doing Business in Karnataka’.
The UK’s ‘one-in, two-out’ initiative on regulation and the ‘red tape challenge’ have helped it move up to 8th in the World Bank Ease of Doing Business rankings.
British Deputy High Commissioner Ian Felton who released the ‘Ease of Doing Business in Karnataka’ report in Bengaluru on Wednesday said the UK can help the State in improving its status of doing business.
“Today presents an opportunity for both of our governments, the private sector and academia to explore how our innovation ecosystems can work better together specifically on innovation policy, business acceleration, academia-industry links and commercialisation of research and development,” he added.
RV Deshpande, Minister for Large and Medium Industries & Tourism, said: “In the report, you have also mentioned about the possible collaboration between UK and Karnataka on the subject. I think this is a very good idea. I will request you to follow up on this collaboration with the additional chief secretary Ratna Prabha.”
“Over the last few years, the Karnataka Government has been proactively working on assessing regulations that pose challenges to investors, which in turn has led to several reform measures. The State has the best ecosystem to achieve all this and more. Closer UK-Karnataka ties in innovation and technology collaboration will propel both regions to greater heights,” he added.
