The consumer price index (CPI)-based inflation for August 2015 came in at 3.66 per cent, a tad above expectations.
The August CPI inflation print of 3.66 per cent was much lower than 7.03 per cent recorded in same month last year. In July 2015, retail inflation had come in at 3.69 per cent.
For the month under review, the consumer food price inflation (CFPI) inched up to 2.20 per cent from 2.15 per cent in July.
CFPI had come in at 8.70 per cent in August last year. Food prices account for near 50 per cent of the CPI inflation index.
