Exports from Special Economic Zones during April-September 2011 grew by 26.2 per cent to Rs 1,76,479.69 crore, the Export Promotion Council for EOUs and SEZs (EPCES) said in a statement on Tuesday.
SEZ exports during 2010-11 had grown 43 per cent over the previous year to Rs 3,15,867.85 crore, Mr Jatin R Mehta, Chairman, EPCES, said. As on September 30, SEZs provided employment to 7,32,839 people and attracted investments worth Rs 2,77,259 crore, he said. The Government has formally approved 583 SEZs, of which 381 have been notified and 148 are operational as on September 30, said Mr O.P. Kapoor, Deputy Director-General, EPCES.
