Hearing on Tata Motors' petition challenging the validity of the Singur Land Rehabilitation and Development Act, 2011, at the Calcutta High Court was interrupted on Tuesday after the auto major's counsel, Mr Samaraditya Pal, took exception to remarks made against him by a counsel of the West Bengal Government.
Mr Pal took exception to alleged “personal remarks” made by Mr Kalyan Bandopadhyay, a Trinamool Congress MP and counsel for West Bengal Industrial Development Corporation (WBIDC), against him on July 18 in sections of the news media.
“I am mentally disturbed,” Mr Pal told the court while adding that he was not seeking an adjournment on the day's proceedings.
While Mr Bandopadhyay was not present during the day, Mr Justice Soumitra Pal, observed that the reported development was “embarrassing” for him.
Hearing will resume on Wednesday.
