Border trade between India and China, carried on via the Lipulekh Pass here, has concluded for the year after the route was closed for winter.
Lipulekh Pass is situated at an altitude of 1,750ft in the Pithoragarh district of Uttarakhand.
The border trade, which began in June, concluded on October 31 with the return of Indian traders from the Chinese side, Indian trade office sources said.
Trade between the two countries via the said route touched Rs 2 crore for this year, added the designated trade officer.
“For the first time in 20 years, after resumption of this trade, the balance of payments data remained in India’s favour in 2013,” the officer said.
Border trade between the India and China, which was stopped after the 1962 war, resumed in 1992 following an agreement between the two neighbours.
