The National Skill Development Council (NSDC) has set up a special body to train people in security skills and address the gaps in the country's security needs.
“Today, the Army, BSF and police force are fully stretched. There is a vacuum in the country's security envelope. Only the private security industry can fill this vacuum,” said Lt General S.S. Chahal, CEO, Security Knowledge and Skill Development Council, on the sidelines of the Security Leadership Summit in the city.
The primary objective of the Security Knowledge and Skill Development Council is to set up training centres across the country.
It will come up with a standardised curriculum for security training. The NSDC has given the security skill development council a grant of Rs 4.5 crore towards this.
Mr Kunwar Vikram Singh, Central Association of Private Security Industry, said the security skill council will have representation from the private security firms, industry bodies and the Indian Army.
Diploma, degree and MBA courses in security are also on the anvil.
