States are optimistic about July 1 roll-out of the goods and services tax with most of them showing their willingness at the two-day GST Council meeting that started today.
"Most States are agreeable to July 1 implementation ," Hasib Drabu, J&K Finance Minister, said.
V Narayanaswamy, Pudducherry Chief Minister, said that the Council will decide about the rates for every item today and try to ensure that common man is not burdened.
"This meeting will send a message to the world that Centre and States are taking interest in the development of Jammu and Kashmir, " he added.
Delhi Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia said, "This is the most crucial meeting. I have raised some concerns which include services which are to be brought in GST because service delivery destination is vague, we should discuss this."
