Tata Communications today said it has completed a round-the-world fibre optic cable network with the launch of Tata Global Network-Eurasia (TGN-EA) cable, which connects Europe to India through Egypt.
“This is a landmark moment for Tata Communications as we officially launch the world's first wholly-owned global submarine cable network as a complete and robust ring around the world,” Tata Communications’ Managing Director and CEO, Mr Vinod Kumar, said in a statement.
The global fibre optic network of Tata Communications links markets across Asia, West Asia, the US and Europe.
This network is a backbone for providing data connectivity services for telecom services such as voice and broadband for customers of Tata Communications.
The company also announced the launch of its TGN-Gulf subsea cable system that will connect the Gulf to Mumbai and onward to the rest of the Tata Global Network (TGN).
The TGN-Gulf cable system has been launched in partnership with Nawras of Oman, Etisalat of the UAE, Qtel of Qatar, Bahrain Internet Exchange of Bahrain, and Mobily of Saudi Arabia.
It is the first TGN cable to serve the Gulf region and will offer network access to the UAE, Oman, Qatar, Bahrain and Saudi Arabia, the statement said.
