Inclusion of Tirupur knitwear cluster under Smart City programme has brought cheer to the exporting community.
Thanking the Union Minister for Parliamentary Affairs, Venkaiah Naidu, for inclusion of Tirupur under Smart City programme and the State Chief Minister, J Jayalalithaa, for recommending the proposal, the Tirupur Exporters' Association President, A Sakthivel, said the town will get Rs 500 crore in five years.
In addition to this, the State Government had allocated Rs 400 crore in the state budget for 12 municipal corporation, including Tirupur for the smart city programme.
This would help strengthen the infrastructure in many ways, he said.
