Lok Sabha has been adjourned till 2 pm after uproar over Telangana and other issues on the first day of the second part of the Budget Session of Parliament.
Earlier, the Lok Sabha was adjourned till noon.
As soon as the House made obituary references to former members Dinesh Pratap Singh and N.K.P. Salve, Mr Basudeb Acharia (CPI-M) and other members of Left parties were on their feet demanding suspension of Question Hour and a discussion on price rise.
Congress members from Telangana region rushed to the front rows, raised slogans and waved placards demanding a separate state.
The Home Minister, Mr P. Chidambaram, the Parliamentary Affairs Minister, Mr Pawan Kumar Bansal, and Congress whip, Mr Ranee Narah, persuaded the members to go back to their seats but they did not relent.
Congress President, Ms Sonia Gandhi, as also Leader of the Lok Sabha, Mr Pranab Mukherjee, were present in the House when the protests took place.
Members of the Left parties were also seen pressing for their notice for suspension be taken up in the House.
“I have received your notice. I will allow you to raise the issue during Zero Hour. Let the Question Hour continue,” Speaker, Ms Meira Kumar, told the agitating members.
As the Telangana members continued to raise slogans, the Speaker adjourned the House.
