A brief description of the 24 coal blocks put up for e-auction in the first phase has been uploaded on the MSTC website for interested bidders to have a preliminary view. MSTC is handling the e-auctions of the coal blocks. The registration of bidders had opened on December 25.
As per the details, the seven blocks reserved for power have 499.33 million tonne of mineable reserves of which 69.95 million tonne has been extracted till March 31, 2014.
Prior allottees of the seven mines include Hindalco, GVK Power, Jindal Power and CESC.
For the 17 mines reserved for the non-regulated sectors like steel, cement and captive power plants, the mineable reserves are 875.19 million tonne, of which 83.9 million tonne (does not include extraction from Gare Palma IV/1 as Jindal Steel and Power did not provide data) has already been extracted by the previous allottees.
The previous allottees include Electrosteel Casting Ltd, JSPL, Monnet Ispat, Prakash Industries and Usha Martin Ltd.
A senior Government official said details on compensation sought by the prior allottees will be uploaded on the MSTC portal by December 27, along with the tender documents for the 24 mines.
