Train services hit in Bihar as Maoists ‘abduct’ two rly employees

Train services along the Asansol–Bihar line of the Eastern Railway were hit on Tuesday morning after a group of unidentified people “took away” on-duty railway officials at Ghorparan station in Bihar.

 

This led to a delay of nearly 8 hours in running of several trains.

 

According to a release issued by the Eastern Railway, the on-duty station master Mr Vijay Kumar and Railway pointsmen Mr Dukhan Mahato and Mr Munna Ram were "taken away" by allegedly by supporters of the Krantikari Dal.

 

The alleged abduction delayed running of major trains along the Asansol - Bihar line of the Eastern Railway's Asansol Division. 

Some of the major trains which were delayed were the Danapur-Tata Express, Dhanbad-Patna Intercity Express, two Asansol-Jhajha MEMU locals, Sealdah-Akal Takht Express (Up) and Sealdah-bound Akal Takht Express (Down).

 

The elite commando force of COBRA was deployed at the station and an off-duty Station Master was sent to resume train movements. Train movements resumed soon after.
