TUV Rheinland India, a subsidiary of TUV Rheinland Group, Germany, a provider of testing, training, inspection, consulting and certification, has signed an MoU with the Federation of Indian Export Organizations (FIEO).
As per the terms of the MoU, TUV Rheinland India will, on subsidised pricing based on business volumes, extend its various services to FIEO member companies through technical knowledge sharing. TUV Rheinland will assist FIEO member companies to become more knowledgeable and competent in terms of compliance with various markets, customers quality requirements, testing requirements, statutory requirements.
“With the multilateral and bilateral trade agreements taking the order of trade development, the tariff barriers are gradually going away. However, the non-tariff measures - the Sanitary and Phyto Sanitary measures (SPS) and also the Technical Barriers to Trade (TBT) are gaining more relevance be it for the purposes of standardisation, conformity assessment, product and consumer safety, conforming the environmental and social requirements or for the purposes as being used as tools to restrict imports from competing countries of the world,” said Ajay Sahai, Director General and CEO, FIEO.
“The declining trends in Indian exports demand appropriate response and action towards the growing number of SPS and TBT measures, being adopted by various countries, from all the stakeholders involved in value chain including Government, FIEO and Exporting Industry as a whole. In this context, it is immensely required that Indian exporters rightly understood the applicable SPS-TBT measures in exporting countries or countries of use of Indian manufactured goods & services,” said Thomas Fuhrmann, CEO & Managing Director, TUV Rheinland India.
