Uber India, an arm of San Francisco-based Uber, has launched its cash-less cab-services in Hyderabad.

“This is the third city of our operations in India and we plan to expand to other cities as well,” Allen Penn who looks after Asia Operations of Uber told Business Line here on Thursday.

The services can be accessed by those who are using an android-based smartphone by downloading Uber application. They will also have to register themselves with their credit-card details.

When they wish to book a cab, they can see the route map and approximate tariff on the screen.

They would get the cab/driver details immediately after booking and the bill amount would be deducted from their credit card.

“Out revenue model is based on commission we receive from out partners who provide cabs. We don’t own any cabs but only provide services,” Penn said while declining to name any partners in Hyderabad.

When asked on the possible risk of sharing the credit card details, he said: “We use global payment services which are properly licensed.”

Established in 2010, Uber now operates in 65 cities across 26 countries.
