MSME Development Institute, Mangalore will conduct a vendor development programme in Mangalore on January 5 and 6.
Addressing presspersons here on Thursday, K. Socrates, Deputy Director, MSME Development Institute, said that the aim of the programme is to develop linkage between large and small enterprises.
The meet will provide an opportunity to MSMEs (micro, small and medium enterprises) to showcase their capabilities to the various wings of government undertakings, railways and other large-scale private enterprises which outsource from micro and small enterprises, he said.
There will be an exhibition and around 100 stalls of MSMEs will be set up on the occasion.
One of the objectives of the meet is to create interest among the youth on entrepreneurship.
Some of the entities such as HAL, South Western Railways, Integral Coach Factory, Mangalore Refinery and Petrochemicals Ltd, KIOCL Ltd and New Mangalore Port Trust will participate in the meet. Many of the banks are also attending the programme, he said.
M. Maheshwara Rao, Commissioner for Industrial Development and Director of Industries and Commerce, will inaugurate the programme. P.P. Upadhya, Managing Director of MRPL, will release the souvenir on the occasion.
S.M. Jamakhandi, Director of MSME Development Institute, Bangalore, will preside over the inaugural function. Mohammed Ameen, President of Kanara Chamber of Commerce and Industry, will be present that day, Socrates said.
S.G. Hegde, Joint Director of District Industries Centre, and K. Jayaraj Pai, President of District Small Industries Association, were present on the occasion.
