The Directorate General of Employment & Training (DGE&T) has launched a web portal for Skill Development Scheme.
The portal was developed by Hewlett Packard India for DGE&T to promote training of around six lakh unskilled people in the country a year.
DGE&T works closely with the state governments and vocational training providers, who provide professional training to unskilled and semi-skilled workforce. The trained candidates are then assessed by the empanelled assessing bodies for employment.
The earlier manual process of recording the candidate’s information left DGE&T with a very limited option for monitoring the training, assessment schedules and the number of candidates certified for employment.
With a large amount of information spread across different cities and organisations, there was a need for a single platform to centralise the data.
