Headline inflation rose to -3.81 per cent in October as deflationary pressures abated on the back of higher prices of pulses and vegetables like onions.
“The annual rate of inflation, based on monthly wholesale price index (WPI), stood at -3.81 per cent (provisional) for the month of October 2015 (over October 2014) compared to -4.54 per cent (provisional) for the previous month,” according to official data released on Monday.
WPI inflation was still in the positive at 1.66 per cent in October 2014.
While WPI inflation in pulses rose 52.98 per cent in October, it was even higher for onions at 85.66 per cent.
Overall headline inflation for food articles rose 2.44 per cent in October, while for fuel and power segment it was -16.32 per cent.
The WPI inflation for August was also revised downwards to -5.06 per cent compared with -4.95 per cent in the provisional data.
