ABB has invested an undisclosed amount in food technology start-up Stellapps Technologies, through its venture capital unit ABB Technology Ventures, in a Series B roud. IndusAge Partners led the round, which included investors Qualcomm Ventures and the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation. This is ABB Technology Ventures’ first investment in India.
Bengaluru-based Stellapps, an end-to-end dairy supply chain solutions company, is building automated tools leveraging Internet of Things and advanced analytics to improve milk production and quality for dairy farms, collection centres and processors. Stellapps will use the money to scale its technology platform.
In addition, Stellapps has signed a collaboration with ABB to create a digital offering for Indian customers to address operational challenges. Established in 2009, ABB Technology Ventures has invested nearly $200 million in over 20 start-ups in sectors including robotics, drones, industrial IoT, Artificial Intelligence/machine learning, cyber security and grid automation.
